I wanted to post a few photos of the most recent work I've been doing.  My full time job has me very busy during the day, so night time work has been dedicated to editing- hence why the blog posts have been lacking! I hope you enjoy the photos, and please visit me on my facebook page www.facebook.com/jaclynbohananphotography

Yamil & fam :)

Last weekend I was able to spend about an hour an a half photographing one of the sweetest families I have ever met: The S. Family- Yamil, Roberto and their son Daniel.  I have photographed lots of Latinos in my day (a big shout out to all my Argentine friends), but none professionally- these were my first!  Let me tell you, did we have a blast!  I was so excited because Yamil did it right- she got dolled up, had her makeup done, new outfits, dressed her boys up to the nines.  We met up at the Rock Quarry in downtown Greenville, SC and Yamil immediately said in her amazing English with a touch of Spanish accent "Oh my God, you knew exactly what I wanted!! This place is gorgeous!"  I grinned and knew that this session was going to be alot of fun.
Yamil and Roberto's little son Daniel is the cutest.  He was so great the way he looked at the camera and was always willing to give me big smiles:) I practiced some of my stand-up comedy on him as well and got some great laughs!  We raced around the rock quarry- Daniel, of course beat me...we also got adventurous and climbed some rocks and trekked some rough terrain.  Roberto had me in stitches with his amazing sense of humor!  I have to confess that a lot of my shots came out blurry simply because I was laughing so hard.  It's so great to see a couple that's so in love with each other, even after many years that they can goof off and enjoy laughs & life together.  I pray that my husband and I are the same. Hope you enjoy the photos:) Please keep me in mind for birthdays, graduations, quinceanieras, family photos or any other get togethers you may have!

I love the little toothless, wrinkled nose grin!

The S. Family!

(This story was written with the express permission of Paige, the mother of the S. Family. Thank you, Paige, for your heart to encourage others to work alongside these wonderful children and families!)

This past weekend I had the privilege of photographing several families.  The first family that I got the treat of joining, was the S. Family.  With my camera and husband in tote, We arrived bright and early on saturday morning to lots of smiles, squeals, and excitement.
Shawn and I met the S. Family through an organization called Hope Reach.  Shawn worked with Hope Reach as a Behavior Analyst that provides therapy for children with Autism.  You see, the S. Family's Oldest Son has autism.  Because of the love and support that they have for their son and for others in the same boat, They are MAJOR advocates for Autism awareness- Paige even works at the SC Autism Society!  You can find out more information about Autism on this website.

When Shawn began working with Walker, they faced many challenges!  But with 2 years of intensive therapy and an AMAZING family who works with him daily, this child has made HUGE strides!  I was taken aback by the eye contact he was giving me, the way he was able to converse with me, and how well he did during the session!  We were working for "puss in boots, the movie", sprite, popcorn, chewing gum, and pajamas, of course! :) Whenever Walker wanted to give up, he was instantly energized by the reminder of these little treats!
I was immediately taken outside by him to explore the large wooded backyard and see the halloween pumpkin that had been left in the woods to become fertilizer:)  A miniature batman figurine joined us in our excursion!  During our trip, I DID manage to get the imaginary cops called on me by a play cell phone and this very imaginative child!   After we were through walking around & scouting the grounds, we were ready to take some pictures!  And let me tell you....the session was AMAZING.  We could not have had a successful session without the planning and hard work of Paige & Matt- the parents, and definitely not without my husband, the super ABA therapist, Shawn!  If you know any family with a child with autism, please send them my way.  I would love to schedule a session with them.

Meet walker- he is a champion.

Meet cale- He is the youngest and quite a goof!
In addition to Walker, the S. family has 2 more children who are Spectacular!  The youngest is a load of fun- so much energy and playfulness!  The oldest child, Erin is Amazing!  I got to see her in the nutcracker last year- she's a dancer and LOVES life as a ballerina! I was told she would spend all day at the studio if allowed.  Erin is a star! She was eager to strike a pose for me, and I'm looking forward to spring ballet photos with her!
Meet Erin- She is beautiful and spends her time in the dance studio!

The entire S. family- such love:)

Matt & Paige- The brave & dedicated Parents of a wonderful family.

Days 9 & 10: Someone you love, Childhood memory
Someone I love:  My husband, Shawn, & My dog jericho.  Jericho is about 80 pounds and thinks he's a lap dog. He climbed up into the chair with shawn and laid his head down like it was normal.

A childhood memory

I came home from work the other day to find my husband watching aladdin.  This is one of the many reasons why i love Shawn.  He works with kids all day and then wants to come home and watch a good cartoon:)  I remember when Aladdin came out- It was 1992 and I was 10 years old.  I loved the genie and was obsessed with learning every word of "friend like Me" and quoting all of his lines.  I remember hanging out in Lauren freer's bedroom, listening to the Aladdin tape (yes, that's right, CASSETTE tape) over and over again.  We were rock stars and the Aladdin score was our Lineup for the Big concert.  To this day I know WAY too may of the Aladdin lines and whenever I watch it, I think of my old friend, Lauren.

Days 7&8- Fruit, and a bad habit.

Ok! so day 7 and 8--- yesterday was pretty busy because I worked all day and then had friends come in.  So, I opted to wait on my blog post and to do it today with day 8.  My friends Debbie, Catlin, and Jordan are all here this weekend, along with Catlin's little girl, Chrislyn.  Debbie went to the grocery story and bought 2 pomegranates for Jordan to try because she had never eaten one.  Well, I hadn't either!  I ended up LOVING the pomegranate and have found my favorite fruit:)

I have quite a few bad habits, but I chose the tastiest one! I love ice cream--I guess I got that honestly from my dad:)  Dad is an ice cream aficionado and taught his daughter well!
